Area Science Park

A Digital Twin pilot in the context of the Port of Trieste.

Overview

The project was initiated by Area Science Park with thePort System Authority, the Port Community, the Port of Trieste Services (PTS) company and the Pacorini Silocaf company, as part of the strategic ARGO project, which has the ambition of making FVG a reference innovation laboratory in the international arena.

The dedicated competition was won by 4Days (Truspace platform) with partners Tre.digital and Real Comm.

Project

The object of the tender defined as the goal the implementation of a Digital Twin in the context of the Port of Trieste within the framework of "demonstrator projects," examples of applied innovation. Specifically, the pilot project was identified in Warehouse No. 71 at the New Free Port of Trieste.

The Authority manages a complex ecosystem, where the activities, roles and needs of various players are intertwined; the perspective is to make use of innovative systems consistent with international standards (BIM) with a view to integrated facility management.

Thus, the underlying objective assigned was to implement a Digital Twin of Warehouse No. 71 complete with asset data and documents, with real-time and historicized reading of objective data (environmental, energy, structural) and maintenance processes.

Outcome

The project, starting in October 2022 was completed in April 2023, ahead of the schedule dictated by the client, thus demonstrating how rapid and concrete the process of digitizing the built environment can be today.

The result is a digital twin alive in data acquisition and historization and maintenance management, technically deep in 3D representation, availability of data and documents on the asset, scalable and implementable in all content, consistent with BIM standards.
